Cool and damp in the night
I fought to keep out the fear
as the moon looked down
and cut shadows crisp and black.

The reality of here and now
intruded on my thoughts
bringing too many tears
freezing them against my cheek.

Lunar beacon, nearly full
flying too high to reach,
laughed at my needs and
flew higher, coldly away.

I waited and thought of you -
Your warmth and love so distant.
What will it take to bring me to you?
Where will I find the strength to remain?

Then the moon drew near as if called by Him.
Falling to the west, growing in size,
as the black sky gave way to amber hues
fired by love and your kindest words.

Dawn was approaching with you in my bed.
The moon all ablaze with passion and fire.
Setting treetops to burn with its fiercest desire,
bringing you to my arms and taking us higher.

Our spirit was lifted to soar with the winds
blown from the east as the sun broke free.
Free of its prison held captive all night.
Our day, our life, filled with promise and light.
